Racism and hate, as this community should recognize, know, and practice, is the opposite of yoga. It is the opposite of everything that we know yoga to teach us. Ending this kind of hatred, at its core, is yogic work. The good news is that you’ve got access to the internet and therefore more resources than at any other point in history... Start by looking at #blmresources and see if something sparks your interest. This work is SO important!

Firefly Yoga Center is partnering with Lift Yoga Studio on several outdoor events benefiting organizations that advocate for social justice. Please check the Firefly Instagram for more information, as we will be sharing it as events are organized.

We loved the way that Susanna Barkataki worded the following and it absolutely aligns with the beliefs of Firefly Yoga Center:

-

THIS is yoga. Do not turn away.

For my non black POC and white folks If you haven't donated to Black Lives Matter or Minnesota Freedom Fund this week I'd love to know what you are doing.

This is not a rhetorical question.
If you call yourself a yogi or a yoga practitioner this is your call to practice.

Ahimsa is the first ethical commitment of the yogi. This is standing up to institutions and systems of injustice, y’all. It’s not just about “being nice.” Justice is calling.
Yoga is unity. Your yoga is to work to create that by all means possible right now.

Interrupt anti blackness. Call in your family. Your friends. Talk about this on the video calls. Ask people how they are supporting. Call representatives.

If people are “shocked” about the so called “riots” ask them if they are shocked about police violence against innocent Black lives.

Call in your people. Protest. Donate. We all have much work to do.

What actions are you taking to support justice, protesters and prevent Black folks from being unjustly killed?

Read that again.

This is not a post to come on and request free education, debate anything about How all lives matter (of course they do - act like it) or how good police are or any of that. That type of comment is not welcome and will be deleted.

This is a post to remind you to do something right now.

Black Lives Matter! People still are involved in racing is what disturbs my mind. For how long it will take to change the attitude of people.

From now on I’ll be using these ideas for my blog posts. Hopefully I get the results I’m hoping for – keeping my fingers crossed just in case. Thanks for posting this post! :)
